Mystical Podil – Kyiv show walk
Mystical Podil is an interactive show-walk around the most mystical locations of Podil District and probably of the entire Kyiv.
First of all, it’s a walk for those who’s interested in the stories and legends of Kyiv. For those who want to better understand how Kyiv beautifully combines its dark side featuring many legends with its light side such as the cities of the early Russ Christianity.
To make it less scientific and historical as well as to abandon the classic excursion format, we combined the walk with the pub-crawl across Podil. So if you want to taste good spirits along the road, then you’re going our way!
We will see St. Andrew’s Church and the inconspicuous house next to it which is hiding many legends. We’ll look into one of the institutions located next to the place where the Holy Doctor once took his patients. Of course, we will not pass by Richard’s Castle and the house of the greatest Kyiv mystic – Mikhail Bulgakov.
We’ll climb Bald Mountain, take a walk along Vozdvizhenka and climb up the beautiful stairs to the greatest place of power at the foundation of the Church of the Tithes.
During the walk, you will find out why Kyiv witches could fly and how they banished Polish priests from Podil. You’ll discover whether it is true that Margarita from the famous Bulgakov’s novel visited our Bald Mountain. You will hear strange legends and true stories about the nuns of Florivskyi Monastery.
And there are stories about werewolves, vampires, chess game with death and many other well- and unknown Kyiv legends.
Moreover, you will have the opportunity to go through a special ritual on the very Bald Mountain near the pagan temple (we provide the protective amulets), and open a bottle of champagne, as the hussars used to do.
Besides, you will learn about Ukrainian amulets and molphar wizards, why the fern flower exists simultaneously in a dark and light worlds and even become part of an ancient mystical ritual.
